Privacy Policy
How Social Plant LLC collects, uses, shares, and protects your information. Includes the rights California residents have under CCPA and CPRA.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Social Plant LLC (“Social Plant”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects personal information through socialplant.com and our services.
2. Information We Collect
We collect: (a) information you submit through the /start form (name, email, project details, optional links, optional attachments), (b) limited technical information such as IP address and request timestamps logged at the server, (c) two cookies set by the Site: a session cookie used only on the owner inbox, and a small “sp-mode” preference cookie that remembers light or dark theme. We do not run third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or fingerprinting scripts.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use submitted information to review, respond to, and follow up on project inquiries; to provide and improve our services; to meet legal obligations; and to maintain the security of the Site.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California Civil Code section 1798.140 and the cross-context advertising rules in section 1798.135. Limited sharing occurs only with: (a) service providers acting on our behalf under written contract, namely Google Fonts (for webfont delivery during development) and MongoDB (database hosting), each bound to confidentiality and use limitations; and (b) legal authorities where required by valid legal process.
5. California Residents’ Rights
California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
- Right to Know. Request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you over the prior 12 months.
- Right to Delete. Request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to Correct. Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to Opt Out. Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. As stated above, we do not sell or share, so there is nothing active to opt out of, and we honor Global Privacy Control signals automatically.
- Right to Limit Sensitive Personal Information. Limit our use of sensitive personal information to purposes specified in section 1798.121. We do not collect sensitive personal information for any secondary purpose.
- Right to Non-Discrimination. Exercising any of these rights will not result in discriminatory treatment.
To exercise any right, email privacy@socialplant.com with sufficient information to verify your identity. We will respond within forty-five (45) days, with one possible forty-five day extension where reasonably necessary, and will notify you of any extension within the original window. Authorized agents are accepted with written, signed permission and reasonable identity verification.
6. Data Retention
We retain /start submissions for as long as needed to respond and (if an engagement begins) for the duration of the engagement and a reasonable archival period thereafter. You may request earlier deletion under section 5 above.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and administrative measures including encrypted transport (HTTPS), restricted server access, and credential isolation. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affecting personal information occurs, we will notify affected individuals as required by applicable law.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us at privacy@socialplant.com and we will delete it promptly.
